Commercial Coffee Machines - Buying Guide
Choosing the right commercial coffee machine starts with your site’s volume, drinks menu, and staff experience. Below is a quick guide to help cafés, offices and hospitality venues compare options and plan a reliable setup.
Choosing the Right Machine
Begin with expected drinks per day and peak-time demand. Bean-to-cup machines deliver speed and consistency with minimal training—ideal for offices and self-serve spaces. Traditional espresso machines (1–3 group) offer the best milk texture and shot quality for cafés and coffee-forward venues, paired with a separate grinder.
Key Features to Consider
- Capacity & groups: 1-group for lower volume or mobile setups; 2-group fits most cafés; 3-group for sustained peak service.
 - Boiler design: Heat-exchanger and dual-boiler systems allow brewing and steaming together for speed and consistency.
 - Water treatment: Use the correct filtration/softening to protect boilers, reduce scale, and keep flavour consistent.
 - Power & plumbing: Confirm electrical supply, mains water, drainage and counter depth/ventilation before install.
 - Service & parts: Choose brands with strong UK parts availability and technician coverage for quick turnaround.

Buy vs Lease
Buying typically delivers the lowest total cost over time. Leasing allows you to rent the machine over a set period (often 24–60 months), protects cashflow and can bundle maintenance (not included with all machines, please contact us for details)—popular for new sites or upgrades. Compare total monthly cost against expected volume and margin, then choose the model that maintains quality and uptime. Want to learn more? See our buy or lease options.
Installation & Training
Professional installation ensures correct water setup, pressure, and calibration. We also offer basic training to help you get started.
Ongoing Maintenance
Protect taste and uptime with a simple routine. For traditional machines: daily backflushing and grouphead cleaning; scheduled gasket/screen changes; and timely filter changes or descaling (per water hardness). For bean-to-cup machines: daily milk-system cleaning and routine servicing at manufacturer intervals.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any other queries please don't hesitate to get in touch, we'll be happy to help!
Which commercial coffee machine is best for my business?
It depends on your drinks volume, menu, and staff experience. Bean-to-cup machines are ideal for offices and self-serve areas because they’re fast and consistent with minimal training. Traditional espresso machines suit cafés and restaurants that want hands-on control and high-quality milk texture.
Should I buy or lease a commercial coffee machine?
We have both options available based on your preference. Buying allows you to take ownership, however it requires funds that you may prefer to utilise elsewhere in your business.
Leasing is a popular option that allows you to rent a coffee machine for a specific period in exchange for fixed monthly rental payments.
It allows you to avoid the large expense of buying a machine outright so you can invest money in other areas.
When leasing a machine you can receive the equipment you need right away, rather than waiting until you have budget available. You may also be able to receive tax relief that you wouldn't otherwise be entitled to when purchasing outright, along with the option to upgrade your machine to the latest model when the contract ends.
Leasing is typically available for a fixed duration of anywhere from 2-5 years and has flexible options at the end, where you can choose to extend the term, give the machine back or upgrade to a brand new machine with the latest upgrades.
What power, water and space do I need for installation?
We have a range of options depending on your volume and site facilities. Most bean to cup and 1 group machines can run off a 13amp plug, however many 2 and 3 group espresso machines require a hard-wired supply. Mains water connection with proper filtration, and a waste outlet are a must for most machines, however we do supply many tank fill models or mains water replacement tank and pump kits. Always check counter depth, ventilation and power rating before installation to make sure your workspace fits your chosen machine, and as always if you have any questions please let us know!
Do you provide installation and training?
Yes — we offer full installation, setup and commissioning, plus basic training to help you get started. Our technicians can also advise on water treatment, grinder setup and daily cleaning routines.
How do I maintain a commercial coffee machine?
For traditional commercial espresso machines, backflush and clean groupheads daily with a suitable cleaning fluid. We also recommend a 6 month or annual service (depending on volumes), which will replace seals & screens, service valves, service steam arms and change filters as recommended. Bean-to-cup machines generally need cleaning cycles and periodic servicing. Regular maintenance keeps your drinks tasting fresh and prevents costly breakdowns. We can assist with all service requirements and provide full maintenance advice.

from 1606 reviewsI had a Eureka Mignon for years, which was more than sufficient for my needs. When I moved in with my partner, she was not a massive fan of the bright orange, which I thought was very classy, so I decided to buy another grinder and settled on a DF64. This machine has a lot of fans and at the time I was experimenting with different coffees, so it served a purpose, for me though it was the worst, inconsistent, messy, move across the counter device I have ever had the misfortune to use, you live and learn I guess.
Decided, I wanted to make my life easier as I used to begrudge making coffee with the DF, me being the only one that can use the machine, and decided to buy this device, I’m not sure what it will be like in the long run but so far it has been a fantastic experience. There is nothing about the machine that I don’t like, except for the price, but you get what you pay for.
Perfect glass liner for my tiny 3 cup coffee
Bodiam.
Order arrived quickly and and well packed.
Sweetbird Black Syrup Pump
Bought this machine as straight replacement for my last Baby Gaggia which lasted nearly 15 years. Hoping this will last another 15!
A great little expresso maker .. easy to use and clean.
Makes great shot of expresso 😊☕️
Have been getting these for a while now - along with the Brazlian Super Crema. Mixing these 50/50 is a mix yet to be beaten by any other offering that we have found.
Never had a separate grinder before so don't have anything to compare with but I love it. It is zero retention most of the time, occasionally lose 0.1g and it'll appear later on another batch. It's very quiet and easy to use. Good price too.
My only criticism would be numbered tape that's stuck on the grind dial is cheap looking and randomly aligned. The zero point where the burs just touch is at 9 on mine. I class this as expensive purchase so not having etched numbers and not being aligned correctly seems wrong. Very minor really, does it's job very well
So happy with both machines - makes the best fresh coffee - absolutely delighted with them.
The best I've tried so far
Clever Coffee Dripper + 100 Filters (Transparent Brown)
Absolutely superb grinder. I use it to grind very fine for espresso, a single dose at a time, its powerful motor and burrs effortlessly produce the perfect grind for a brilliant finished product. So much better than the Sage Smart Pro, which is frankly amateur hour and pretty rubbish compared to this powerful and consistant far more professional Eureka. I highly recommend.
A shout out to Clumsy Goat for their excellent after sale support, I bought refurbished so if I needed to know anything they were only a phonecall away, with a very kind knowledgeable human to give advice or help - absolutely brilliant, on all counts - thank you!
Cute and right size for my morning coffee
First time made a purchase from Clumsy Goat. Did so as had great coffee at local café. They had a card so went ahead and ordered some coffee beans. Premium price but at the same time a premium coffee. Will be returning again in the future. Thank you Clumsy Goat.🐐
Not had a proper grinder before, but this was pretty straight forward to get dialed in for the perfect shot.
The bellow ensures little retention and all the parts come together well
Looks great and delivers the best coffee. Simple and stylish functionality also very quiet and compact. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
