I am really pleased with this machine - it makes excellent espresso & cappuccino without any fuss. I like the control over milk temperature & foam & volume of coffee delivered. This is all within a small footprint. Great buy!
I ummed and ahhed about this when I needed a replacement for my Sage Barista Pro, whose grinder had failed. I decided on a separate grinder and espresso machine and had whittled it down to this or a gaggia. I went with this as it had good reviews and has lots of things built in like pid, programmable one touch buttons etc.
At first I felt a bit disappointed as it was so lightweight it felt like a toy. For an honest and hopefully useful review I’ll list the bad parts as well as good: I have to lean on the machine to insert and remove the portafilter to stop it toppling over. The drip tray is tiny and needs changing every 2 days. And it’s noisy, especially the loud rattle of the metal drip tray. The portafilter is plasticky compared to the pro version. I have my own nice one though so irrelevant in my case. Finally there is no timer for those that want to be all accurate, but a scale with a timer will get around this.
The good bits: Once I’d got my head around these issues I’ve come to like it as, like the pro, it’s convenient to have programmable functions, you can do manual steaming for latte art when you fancy but the automatic steaming is good for quick general hot frothy milk when you’re in a rush in the morning (which I why I went for the plus over the basic model), you can get hot water out of the steam wand for topping up. There’s lots of space for a big mug or a scale if wanted. It comes with all the baskets you need and a nice milk jug. I got the black version and it looks really smart.
I don’t regret my purchase and am enjoying pulling lovely shots that flow out like honey. I’ve paired it with a eureka mignon specialita grinder. Clumsy Goat have been really helpful in advising me how to get the best out of the set up which I really appreciated.
Love this machine, it's so compact and easy to use yet makes truly delicious coffee. I paired it with the Sage grinder and so have everything super fresh.
The milk frother is an absolute delight - it can even make microfoam for latte art! Would definitely recommend this machine to others and it can super quickly too. Thanks to all the team at Clumsy Goat - you rock! oxo
